‘Suspicious’ death probe after man’s body found near East Side VIA bus stop

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are investigating what they call a “suspicious” death after a man’s body was discovered near an East Side bus stop early Tuesday.

Police say a man estimated to be in his 30s to 40s was discovered by a landscaper at the intersection of Hines and Dignowity near a VIA bus stop.

When the landscaper found the man, he was reportedly breathing very shallow.

EMS was dispatched but the man was pronounced deceased at the scene shortly after.

Investigators said the man, believed to be homeless, showed signs of “trauma” to his head.

Homicide detectives with the San Antonio Police Department are investigating the death, which they say appears “suspicious.”
