SAN ANTONIO – A woman who won the Democratic Primary for County Court 14 Judge will remain on the ballot after winning a major legal challenge.
On Tuesday, Attorney Mae Garza, representing the Democratic candidate for DEM Judge, County Court at Law No. 14, Audrey Martinez, announced that Martinez will remain on the ballot after overcoming a major legal challenge over disputes surrounding her county of residence.

According to the primary election results from March, Audrey Martinez defeated incumbent Judge Carlo Rodriguez Key, receiving 93,381 votes, or 63.42%, compared with 53,871 votes, or 36.58% for Key.
The race had already drawn scrutiny after Key filed a legal challenge questioning whether Martinez meets residency requirements to run for judge in Bexar County.
During a hearing before visiting Judge Roy Ferguson, the court and both candidates agreed to delay a ruling until after voters cast their ballots in the primary. Key said at the time he wanted the issue resolved before the election.
During that hearing, 81st Judicial District Attorney Audrey Louis, Martinez’s former employer, testified she believed Martinez was living in Wilson County when she signed documents to run for office in Bexar County.
Martinez disputed that claim, saying she maintains a residence in Bexar County and has provided documents, including her voter registration card.
