Police have identified the man killed in an altercation inside a Phoenix home last week, an attack that led to the arrest of a 32-year-old suspect.
The Phoenix Police Department said Wednesday that 44-year-old Billy Joe Carrethers’ body was found on May 7 around 9 p.m. after officers responded to an unknown trouble call at a residence in the area of 24th and Oak streets.
Through multiple leads, detectives determined during the investigation that Carrethers had been killed by Christopher Ebanks during a fight inside of the home.
Ebanks was taken into custody on May 8 and booked into jail on first-degree murder, kidnapping and probation violation. He is being held on a more than $1 million bond.
