  • May 14, 2026

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Three new East Valley locations have been added to the list of places where people may have been exposed to measles as health officials confirmed a new case.

The Maricopa County Department of Public Health said the person who had measles lives in the Valley and didn’t travel anywhere. It’s unclear where the person was exposed, but officials said it was likely within Maricopa County.

“This highlights the ongoing risk of local transmission during this outbreak, and the importance of vaccination and early symptom recognition,” the department said in an emailed statement.

Below is a full list of places that may have been exposed to the virus.

Anyone who was at those places and times should watch for symptoms. If symptoms develop, such as high fever, red, watery eyes, cough, runny nose and a red, blotchy rash, they should stay home and call their doctor.

Measles can survive in the air for up to two hours. It spreads by physical contact or through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

Maricopa County has seen 15 cases of measles so far in 2026.

According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, there have been 94 measles cases in the state this year, with 70 of them being in Mohave County, as of Tuesday.

Health experts said two doses of the MMR vaccine are 97% effective against measles and are recommended for all children.
