Controversial truck stop vote delayed in Phoenix

PHOENIX, Ore. – The Phoenix Planning Commission is delaying a vote on a controversial truck stop on the east side of town.

NBC5 News first told you about the proposed project last month.

Dozens of neighbors at the intersection of Fern Valley and Grove Roads have organized an effort against it. Many of them testified Monday night at the planning commission’s public hearing.

They say there’s already a Petro truck stop in the same commercial zone, and another one brings no added benefits, only more noise and pollution.

With the meeting running long after public testimony, the commission decided to hold off on a vote till its next meeting on June 8.

The project would include a 7-Eleven convenience store as well as separate gas stations for both passenger vehicles and semi-trucks.
