El Paso-based Pan y Agua Group opened Chilaquiles Buen Dia near San Antonio’s Pearl area nearly two years ago, but sometime in the last month, the restaurant closed without much warning, leaving behind a vacancy.

An act of vandalism literally left Chilaquiles Buen Dia in the dark after the restaurant’s electrical boxes were damaged and copper parts were stolen, according to an April 13 report from KSAT. The business was supposed to reopen soon after the alleged theft, but as of Friday, May 15, Google lists Chilaquiles Buen Dia as temporarily closed.

MySA attempted to reach out to Chilaquiles Buen Dia by calling the restaurant directly, but the call did not go through. We also contacted Nick Salgado, one of three business partners at Pan y Agua Group, to confirm that the San Antonio location was closed, but he did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Locals started to question whether the location would ever fully reopen in the comments of posts on Chilaquiles Buen Dia’s Instagram. Several people asked directly if the restaurant was dunzo, and the restaurant finally publicly acknowledged its closure in a series of replies.

“Our San Antonio location has closed,” Chilaquiles Buen Dia said in one reply.

Chilaquiles Buen Dia continues to operate two locations in El Paso, but the San Antonio location is no longer listed on the Texas mini-chain’s Instagram bio.
