ARLINGTON, Texas (May 16, 2026) – North Texas SC (4-4-3, 17 points) earned its fourth win of the season tonight with a commanding 5-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City II at Choctaw Stadium. Natty James recorded a hat trick, while Edouard “Edu” Nys and FC Dallas Homegrown Daniel Baran also found the back of the net for North Texas.
FIRST START FOR BROOKS THOMPSON
FC Dallas goalkeeper Brooks Thompson made his North Texas SC debut, recording four saves tonight. Thompson joined FC Dallas on loan through June 2026 on Feb. 16, 2026. Prior to Dallas, Thompson signed his first professional contract with Sporting Kansas City in 2021 after featuring for Sporting Kansas City II as an academy player in the USL Championship.
Co-captain Edouard “Edu” Nys scored North Texas SC’s opening goal in the 12th minute of the first half. The goal marked Nys’ seventh of the season, tying him for the MLS NEXT Pro lead. For the first time this season, Nys wore the captain’s armband to start the match. He also recorded three assists on the night.
Midfielder Natty James recorded his first professional hat trick tonight, bringing his season total to seven goals. All seven of James’ goals this season have come against Sporting Kansas City II. He is now tied for the team lead in goals and tied atop the MLS NEXT Pro scoring chart.
A DEBUT WIN
FC Dallas Academy defender Liam Vejrostek made his professional debut tonight, starting and playing the full match. The U.S. youth international became the 39th FC Dallas Academy product to make a professional debut in MLS NEXT Pro.
