PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An investigation is underway after a man was found dead on a freeway in central Phoenix late Saturday night.
Just before midnight, Phoenix police responded to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near 12th Street to help state troopers with a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

Police said the driver told investigators that the man, later identified as 66-year-old Max Jeffrey, had fallen from the overpass before being hit. The driver showed no signs of impairment.
Investigators said they have not confirmed whether Jeffrey fell from the overpass or was struck while walking across the freeway.
Detectives are working to locate surveillance video or other evidence as the investigation continues.
