SEATTLE (KPTV) – The Seattle Mariners are calling up their top prospect, the team announced Sunday.
20-year-old infielder Colt Emerson is in the starting lineup for the team’s game against the San Diego Padres on Sunday afternoon, batting ninth and starting at third base.
Emerson is the top Mariners prospect, and is considered one of the top prospects across Major League Baseball, according to various publications.
The Zanesville, Ohio native was selected 22nd overall by the Mariners in the 2023 MLB Draft out of John Glenn High School in New Concord, Ohio.
In 38 games this season – all with the AAA Tacoma Rainiers – Emerson is hitting .255 with seven home runs and 26 RBIs.
Playing for three different Mariners affiliates in 2025, Emerson hit .285, with 16 home runs and 78 RBIs.
In a corresponding move, the Mariners placed veteran utilityman Brendan Donovan on the 10-day injured list.
The Mariners (22-25) have struggled out of the gate to begin the 2026 season, after coming within one game of making their first ever World Series appearance in 2025.
