Emmanuel Rubio, a senior at Uplift Summit International Preparatory, has spent the last six years growing into a leader, scholar, and role model within the school’s close-knit community. Joining Uplift Summit in middle school, Emmanuel quickly came to appreciate the school’s family-like atmosphere, where strong relationships and shared growth helped shape his experience.

With guidance from the Road To College and Career (RTCC) team, Emmanuel approached the college application process with confidence and clarity. Known for asking thoughtful questions, he credits the team with keeping him on track and encouraging him every step of the way.

Emmanuel has been accepted to all five colleges he applied to, including the University of Texas at Arlington, the University of North Texas, the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M College Station, and Southwestern University, where he earned a $16,000 scholarship. He plans to major in general studies as a foundation for a future in biomedical sciences or biomedical engineering. His ultimate goal is to become an emergency room surgeon, helping others when they need it most.

As a first-generation college student, Emmanuel’s accomplishments are especially meaningful to his family. He has paved a path forward not only for himself but also for his younger siblings, who see him as a role model.

Outside the classroom, Emmanuel has demonstrated leadership and service through roles as class secretary, president of the Spanish Honor Society, and student council member. He also participated in soccer, volleyball, and yearbook, crediting these activities with teaching him time management, accountability, and teamwork.

Teachers and staff at Uplift Summit have played a vital role in his journey, offering consistent support and encouragement. “They never let us fail,” Emmanuel often says of the mentors who’ve guided him.

As he prepares to graduate, Emmanuel is excited for the opportunities that lie ahead. While leaving behind the familiar faces of Uplift Summit will be a big change, he’s ready to step into college life and continue pursuing his dream of making a difference in the medical field.
