AEW Double or Nothing 2026 will be main evented by a match with some serious stakes. It also opened with one.

FTR’s Tag title defense against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage was already personal given the way Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler took out Copeland’s wife Beth after their first encounter, and have generally tried to end the careers of the former Edge & Christian at every opportunity. But then C & C put their careers as a team on the line too, and both sides agreed to make it an “I Quit” match.

That meant anything went, and it did…

… and after or during a lot of those stretches, referee Paul Turner asked one of the men if they quit. Christian couldn’t just say no, of course.

The tide began to turn for the old friends from Toronto when Beth Copeland arrived to get some payback against the Top Guys and their manager, Stokely Hathaway.

That also led to FTR attempted to put fka Beth Phoenix through a table they set on fire, an interesting callback to Edge/Foley at WrestleMania 22 with new AEW star Mick Foley in the building. It backfired (pun intended) on Cash and Big Stoke.

The end came when Mrs. Copeland fetched her hubby’s nail-studded 2×4 Spike from under the ring steps for Mr. Copeland to use in his crossface on Harwood, which finally made him quit.

Beth cried at ringside as Cage & Cope became Tag champs one more time in their legendary careers.
