NEW YORK, Vt. (WCAX) – Amtrak trains in many areas of the Northeast were canceled Friday — including northbound Vermonter service –because of a fire inside a New York tunnel.
A photo taken from inside a train in a Hudson River tunnel Friday morning showed the fire.
As a result, service in the area shut down, including the St. Albans-bound Vermonter, according to Amtrak’s website.
Five rail workers were hurt. Two were taken to the hospital, according to fire officials.
