PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is accused of driving drunk and falling asleep while his car sat in the middle of Interstate 10 in east Phoenix.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety says troopers got several calls on May 25 about a car stopped on I-10 between 32nd and 40th streets.
Troopers arrived and found the driver asleep behind the wheel with the car still in drive. Troopers stopped traffic, boxed the car in, woke the man up and took him into custody.
DPS says troopers saw an open container of alcohol in the center console and more alcohol on the passenger-side floorboard. They also said the man had bloodshot, watery eyes and smelled like alcohol.
Photos shared by DPS showed an empty can of Voodoo Ranger IPA and two vodka shooters.

The man agreed to field sobriety tests, and troopers said the results showed he was impaired.
A records check showed the man’s driver’s license was suspended because of a DUI earlier this year.
The man was arrested and booked into jail. He was not publicly identified.
