A man killed Monday morning in northwest Dallas was shot at by another man and a security guard, police said.

The victim was identified as 23-year-old Anthony Cristobal. He was shot in the 2000 block of west Northwest Highway at about 4:25 a.m. Monday, Dallas police said in a news release. Cristobal was taken to a hospital where he later died, police said.

Based on preliminary investigations, police said after an altercation between two groups occurred, Cristobal retrieved a gun and pointed it at Anthony Aguilera, 22.

Luisadolfo Mena, 26, a security guard working for a business at the location, saw Cristobal with the gun and told him to drop it, police said.

Aguilera then assaulted a member of Cristobal’s group and Cristobal fired his weapon, police said.

Mena and Heriberto Aguilera, 21, fired toward Cristobal.

Cristobal was shot and then given aid by additional security guards until Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived.

Police did not say to The Dallas Morning News who shot and killed Cristobal. The fatal shooting will be referred to a grand jury, police said.

Anthony Aguilera was arrested and faces an assault charge.

Heriberto Aguilera was also arrested and faces a weapons violation charge, police said.
