The Broadway Theater District property aims to foster a creative hub for guests and locals

The historic 1920’s Downtown Los Angeles building that once housed the Ace Hotel is entering its next chapter.

Now the STILE DTLA, the Spanish Gothic building, has completed an extensive renovation just in time for summer in an effort to propel a mission to offer L.A. a lifestyle hotel and creative hub all in one place.

“STILE represents a meaningful evolution not only for this building, but for how hotels can operate within a city like Los Angeles,” said Jaisun Ihm, CEO of Aju Continuum. “This renovation allowed us to preserve the integrity of a historic landmark while introducing a more flexible, design-led experience that reflects how people live, work and connect today.”

The redesigned STILE hotel features 182 guest rooms, eclectic and artistic in their design, with amenities including a rooftop pool and a 24-hour fitness center. Public spaces and guestrooms display curated works by global artists like Xan Padrón and Martin Vaan Zaal to present a multi-sensory design approach.

Led by the L.A.-based interior design firm Design, Bitches in conjunction with Aju Continuum’s project management, the hotel manages a dynamic concept of day-to-night experiences.

STILE is also home to SparkHouse, an exclusive club and creative hub designed for creatives in the music industry, on its first and second floors. Featuring professional recording studios, podcast and video suites, collaborative lounges, meeting spaces, and a cafe and bar, the space lets established musicians and emerging artists alike come together through listening sessions, showcases and masterclasses. 

A cornerstone of the property, The United Theatre on Broadway will continue to function as a performance venue. The delicately restored movie theatre, originated by Mary Pickford and Charlie Chaplin, seats 1,600 audience members with an open balcony and mezzanine to accompany the stage. Some upcoming shows include performances by Japanese singer Kamijo, the indie band Walk off the Earth and the rock group Men at Work.

STILE aims to embrace an industrial-modern design rooted in the spirit of Los Angeles and its creative nature. The building retains its historic architecture while embracing contemporary interiors, allowing the property to embody Los Angeles and be reflective of the Broadway Theater District it resides in.
