PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Temperatures will trend warmer than normal for the rest of this week, with a gradual warmup by the weekend. Right now, we are looking at a high temperature in Phoenix of 109 for Saturday and Sunday, but there is a possibility we reach that 110-degree mark.
This is fairly dependent on an increase in moisture Friday into the weekend, which could keep temperatures just shy of the 110-degree mark. There is still high fire danger Tuesday across northern Arizona, with a red flag warning in effect through 8 p.m. and gusts to 45 mph possible.
As we progress through the week, we are looking at a slight chance of rain and thunderstorm activity to pick up Friday for the High Country, with just a 10% chance in the Valley.
Moisture will decrease by next week. If we do see a 110-degree day this weekend, that would be pretty on time when we’re looking at our average first 110-degree day. That usually occurs on June 11. Our earliest 110-degree day was May 8, 1989, and our latest was Aug. 9, 1915.
