Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin was a contender to win last year at Indy but he finished an asterisk mark 32nd. In the race, Hamlin won Stage #1, finished 3rd in Stage #2, had a 7.7 average running position and led 21 laps. Hamlin was running 5th on lap 156, but on lap 157, Busch had contact with the #11 and crashed which brought out the caution. During that caution, Hamlin then ducked down pit road for fuel and to check out his car, which dropped him back in the pack. Then during the restart, Hamlin crashed, resulting in a 32nd-place finish. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Hamlin ranked 2nd.

John H Nemechek – John H Nemechek was legitimately a top ten contender last year at Indy but finished an asterisk mark 29th. In the race, Nemechek started 10th, finished about 13th in Stage #1, finished 5th in Stage #2, led 16 laps, but then in the final Stage, pit strategy dropped him back to mid-pack. Nemechek was in 16th at the start of overtime but then crashed in a multi-car wreck. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Nemechek ranked 9th.

Brad Keselowski – Last year at Indy, Brad Keselowski had a great car and dominated much of “Closing Time”, leading 35 laps but he finished a misleading 21st. During the overtime restart while leading, Keselowski ducked down pit road for gas which led to his misleading result. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Keselowski ranked 14th but take note in the 4th segment he ranked 4th for speed.
