PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A man is seriously hurt after being pulled from a canal in north Phoenix late Saturday night.
Shortly after 11 p.m., first responders were called to reports of a drowning near 29th Avenue and Dunlap Road, just south of the former Metrocenter Mall.
When officers arrived, they found that bystanders had pulled a man from a nearby canal, according to Phoenix Fire.
Firefighters began life-saving measures, and the man was taken to a hospital in extremely critical condition.
In an update Sunday morning, police said the man is expected to recover.
Investigators have not said how long the man was underwater, but say they believe he fell in. The incident remains under investigation.
