Possible fetus found in drainage system in south Houston

  • July 23, 2025

The scene of the incident (KPRC 2)

Authorities are at the scene of a neighborhood in Houston’s southside where the body of a fetus was possibly found in a drainage system.

At 12:34 p.m., Houston Fire Department units were dispatched to the 8000 block of El Mundo Street after a call initially came in as a cardiac arrest.

Fire officials believe the discovery may be a discarded miscarriage. HFD officials confirmed that the fetus was early in the development phase, not at full term.

A caller reported finding a body in some type of drain, though the exact nature of the drainage system has not been confirmed.

Rescue crews are working to remove the body from the location. A heavy rescue unit is in the area.

KPRC 2’s Bryce Newberry is heading to the scene.

This is a developing report. We’ll have more updates shortly.
