SAN ANTONIO – A local car enthusiast is turning heads with his meticulously restored 1958 Chevrolet Del Rey, a testament to his lifelong passion for vintage automobiles.

“This is my 1958 Chevrolet Del Rey. It’s got air suspension, custom paints, driven all over the nation,” says Dan Nino, proudly showcasing his prized possession. The car, which he recently brought back from Chicago, has been a labor of love for the past decade.

Nino began his journey with four-by-fours and credits his early exposure to lowrider shows in San Antonio for igniting his passion for classic cars.

“When I was growing up, early teenager, my dad took me to a lot of lowrider shows, Camargo Park, all the lowrider expos and everything within San Antonio,” he said. “I’ve always loved classic cars, anything pre-1970, pretty much love it.”

The Del Rey, which he describes as “one of the few cars the factory got correct,” features a unique blend of colors and customizations. “We did a flat top coat on the top of part of the car. We did a white on the bottom, gloss white, the whites off the Toyota Tacoma, the peachy pink color actually is off a 1961 Buick,” he explained. The custom flaked lowrider-style roof was crafted by Lance Winn in Austin, Texas.

Nino considers the 1958 Chevy his dream car.
