PHOENIX — A man was arrested on Sunday for allegedly stealing $27,500 worth of belongings from a Scottsdale home on July 4.

Items stolen from the home included jewelry, handbags and electronics.

Police said officers responded to the burglarized home near 114th Street and Black Rock Road.
A man who was related to the homeowners was in the house when the incident occurred. He witnessed the suspect outside a window at the front of the house and tried to leave, but the suspect’s vehicle was in the driveway, blocking his exit.
After hearing a window break, the family member fled from the home and ran to the neighbors to call 911.
When officers arrived, the suspect was inside his vehicle. They tried to block him with a patrol car, but he drove away “at a high rate of speed” and nearly hit two officers outside the vehicle, police said.
Dykstra was later identified and on July 20, he was arrested without incident at a hotel near Black Canyon Highway and Peoria Avenue.
Police said most of the items stolen in the burglary, some of which Dykstra had been pawning, were recovered.
