Orange Cat Turns Into the Tasmanian Devil During Harness Training and It’s Pure Chaos originally appeared on Parade Pets.
Most cat moms and dads know that if you want your feline friend to enjoy the great outdoors, you’ve got two safe options: a stroller or a harness. It’s all about keeping your kitty protected so they don’t bolt into traffic, get spooked by a dog, or try to chase a squirrel into another zip code. One cat mom decided to try harness training her Orange Cat, but her kitty had other plans and instantly transformed into the Tasmanian Devil. Total chaos.
Just watch the following to see the madness and check out the dog’s reaction. This is hilarious.
One person hilariously commented, “I legit thought your dog threw a stuffed animal.”

Harness training a cat takes time, patience, and about a million treats — but it can totally be done. Some kitties take to it right away, but most of them look at you like you’ve just committed high treason. That’s why it’s all about baby steps. You want to make the harness a totally non-scary, even fun part of their day.
ParadePets says the secret is to introduce the harness very slowly. Place the harness on the floor and praise and reward your cat with some tasty bits every time they demonstrate interest in it. For example, praise and toss your pet a treat when they look at it, praise and toss a treat when they walk toward it, and praise and give a jackpot of treats (several treats tossed on the floor) when they gain the courage to go sniff it.
Don’t rush to strap it on. Let your kitty investigate at their own pace. Once they’re used to the sight and smell of the harness, gently put it on for a few minutes and reward them big time. Keep it short and positive. Before you know it, you’ll have a little adventure buddy who’s ready to safely explore the backyard or go on chill strolls around the block.
