Our picks: The Roadside and It’s All Gouda, $12
Sliders cost $12 for two at Easy Slider restaurant in Old East Dallas, so rather than choose one favorite, we have two winners. Order The Roadside, a beef slider with cheddar, jalapeños, bacon, crispy onions and a smear of barbecue sauce; then get It’s All Gouda, an umami-laced burger with smoked Gouda, sautéed mushrooms and garlic mayo.
He said: Easy Slider is a real vibe, with a Rolodex full of inventive sliders. We tried four, and were tempted by a fifth, the rotating monthly special. (But, alas, it changes too often for our scientific purposes.) Give me the Roadside, leave me by the roadside and I’m happy. I loved the sweet barbecue sauce, smoky bacon, tart jalapeños and a little crunch from thin, crispy onions — not to be confused with their spectacular onion rings. Big credit to the Easy team for packing a ton of flavor into a tiny chunk of meat that could have ended up flavorless or dry. Since you get two sliders to an order, It’s All Gouda balances all those bold flavors with a whole bunch of umami. Don’t forget: Get the onion rings.
She said: I love this little dive bar as much as I love its food. Grab a seat at the banquette or slump into a spinny stool for Dallas’ best sliders. The Roadside is your gateway slider to wake up your taste buds. Then move to It’s All Gouda, an action-packed little bugger with smoky, cheesy personality. These sliders are small enough that every bite lends a new texture or flavor, leaving you wanting more. Besides, once I get going on the Gouda burger? I’m not sharing. Get your own.
