CAVA, a booming fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant chain, opened its second Chicago location Friday.

The Streeterville storefront, located at 270 E. Ontario St. 01-100, is also the chain’s fifth location in Illinois.

Just last April, CAVA made its Midwest debut by opening its first Chicago location in Wicker Park. Since then, the restaurant has expanded to the suburbs, opening spots in Vernon Hills, River Forest and Bolingbrook.

“Our mission is to bring heart, health, and humanity to food, and everything we do at CAVA is grounded in that spirit of generosity, to our guests, our team members, and our community,” Regional Director Gino Carlin said in a news release. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to continue to grow our presence in the greater Chicagoland area.”

This year, the chain also opened its first locations in Michigan and Indiana, with more planned for later this year. According to a news release, the restaurant now operates in 28 states and the District of Columbia, with a target of 1,000 restaurants by 2032.

The Streeterville restaurant will be open daily from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to the chain.

The restaurant’s Mediterranean-inspired menu is best known for its customizable bowls and pitas, with toppings including falafel, spicy lamb meatballs, a variety of grains and vegetables, and a wide array of spreads and dressings.

The chain also offers kids meals, desserts and sides, including the restaurant’s iconic pita chips.
