Rain chances on the way as monsoon moves into Phoenix area

  • July 11, 2026

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — It’s another warm start to our morning with lows in the upper 80s, and this afternoon we will see high temps around 110 degrees. Our average high this time of year is around 107 degrees, and it looks like temperatures will start to drop closer to that next week.

Storms are likely to be limited to Eastern and Southeastern Arizona today, with more activity in the higher elevations on Saturday. The Valley could see gusty outflows and blowing dust on Saturday, but rain chances ramp up for the Valley on Sunday.

For Sunday, you will notice the increase in moisture, and that moisture will bring instability and an increasing chance of storms. The best chance of storms will be in the afternoon and early evening, so we have issued a First Alert for Sunday.

The great news is that the chance of rain and storms is in the forecast throughout the week. We could really use the rainfall, so far this year we have just .32″ of rain, well below average.
