I am always hunting for the next legendary bite in New York City. Something that completely flips the script on standard street food. Well, I found a halal grill in the Flatiron District that is completely changing the game. Kebab Express is taking classic flavors and turning them into an absolute masterpiece.
The Ultimate Chicken Masterclass
Let the games begin. The process kicks off with their insanely vibrant marinated chicken. It gets cooked under heavy foil on the flat top until it is beautifully juicy. They pack a massive scoop of it into a fresh, fluffy pita wrap. Then come the toppings. They pile it high with fresh salad, pickles, salty feta cheese, a fiery spicy sauce, and a heavy cascade of white sauce. Look at that drip. It is an absolute explosion of flavor.
But they do not stop there. They also feature a legendary chicken rice bowl. They jam pack a bowl with steaming basmati rice and a mountain of that incredible chicken. They add salad, feta, olives, white sauce, and their super spicy hot sauce. The result? Incredible.
If you want to try their tandoori chicken, you are in for a treat. They marinate huge chunks of chicken and cook them right on skewers inside their traditional tandoor oven. They slide those beautifully charred, smoky pieces right onto a bed of basmati rice. Drenched. They hit it with white sauce and hot sauce for a beautiful finish. The meat is so tender and packed with a deep spice profile.
Next Level Lamb Creations
They are also serving up an elite lamb gyro wrap. They chop up juicy lamb on the grill and pile it into a pita with crisp veggies, a massive scoop of smooth hummus, white sauce, and a rich barbecue sauce. It does not get much better than this. Or does it?
If you want to skip the wrap, they recommend the lamb over rice. They load it down with chickpeas, pickled red onions, hummus, smoky baba ghanoush, spicy sauce, and their signature garlic sauce. Every single bite is pure heaven.
“The combination of seasoned lamb with that garlic sauce is an absolute game-changer.”
And believe it or not, I was still hungry. So it was on to their legendary lamb fries. They layer a mountain of crispy, seasoned fries with grilled lamb, salad, feta, sumac onions, barbecue sauce, and plenty of white sauce. It is beautifully messy and entirely elite.
Kebab Masterpieces and Stuffed Pitas
This fast casual spot even makes a delicious chapli kebab rice bowl. Ground marinated beef patties with fresh herbs get grilled to perfection and chopped up right over their basmati rice. They load it down with an entire mountain of toppings, hummus, baba ghanoush, and a vibrant green sauce.
To top it all off, their stuffed pita sandwiches are an absolute must order. First up is their fresh, crispy falafel packed into a pita pocket with tons of toppings and their housemade tahini.
But my personal favorite has to be the marinated chicken stuffed pita. They pack the pita to the absolute brim with chicken, fresh veggies, sweet barbecue sauce, and a heavy stream of rich white sauce. This place is an absolute dream for any meat lover. If you are anywhere near the Flatiron District, you need to check out Kebab Express immediately.
