Four children left inside a parked vehicle that was baking at about 125 degrees in a Phoenix neighborhood on July 24 were expected to be OK after being rescued by police and firefighters.
Their father and owner of the vehicle, 38-year-old Ascencio Largo, was arrested that same day and was facing eight felony charges related to child abuse, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
At around 3:40 p.m., authorities found the four children, all under 10, in the car parked by a home near 24th and Madison streets, police said.
The vehicle had no air conditioning running while the windows were rolled up, according to police.

After the children were removed from the car, they were given water and placed into a patrol vehicle with running air conditioning to cool down, police said.
Phoenix firefighters arrived to provide medical treatment for the kids, who each had a temperature nearing 100 degrees, police said. The children were taken to a hospital for further treatment and evaluation for heat-related issues, according to police.
The department said all the children were expected to be fine.
Officers later identified Largo as the car’s owner, locating him inside a nearby business, according to the police.
Largo had reportedly been there for nearly an hour before police arrived and found the children, the department said.
The Department of Child Safety was also conducting a separate investigation, according to police.
