JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) – A construction project in downtown Jacksonville has wrapped up months ahead of schedule.
Court Street reopened Thursday after being closed since April 20. The project had originally been expected to continue through September.
The work included removing brick from part of the roadway and converting another section of Court Street to two-way traffic.
Some downtown business owners opposed removing the brick, saying it was part of the area’s character.
The city later reached a compromise by agreeing to replace it with stamped, dyed concrete.
