Monday is slated to be hot and humid once again as a heat advisory and an extreme heat warning remain in effect for San Diego.
A heat advisory continues for the coast, inland valleys and mountains until 8 p.m. Monday. The extreme heat warning also continues for the deserts until 8 p.m. Monday.
“Make sure to take all the proper heat precautions in this heat. Temperatures will back off, but only slightly, for the next few days before we heat up again,” Chief meteorologist Sheena Parveen said.
A beach hazards statement will continue through Wednesday night for wave heights near 5 to 7 feet and dangerous rip currents.
It will feel less humid later this week, but temperatures will go back up as we approach the weekend. We can expect the weekend to be hot once again as highs will be close to 10 degrees above normal, Parveen said.
Heat advisories are issued when temperatures spike to potentially dangerous levels. San Diego County officials urge people to avoid the heat when possible and use the following tips to stay safe:
- Drink plenty of fluids
- Stay out of the sun
- Wear light, loose-fitting clothing
- Avoid using the oven to cook
- Limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening
- Take refuge in air- conditioned spaces if possible
- Check in on potentially at-risk friends, relatives and neighbors

- Coast: mostly sunny – around 80
- Inland: sunny – low 90s
- Mountains: sunny – around 90
- Deserts: sunny, hot – 110-115
