JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – With “feels like” temperatures ranging from 102 to 110 degrees through the afternoon today, the city of Jacksonville said it will be continuing the operation of its cooling centers on Monday.

Jacksonville and the surrounding areas will be under an extreme heat warning from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday. An extreme heat watch continues from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening.

The following centers will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.:

  • Main Jacksonville Public Library (303 N. Laura Street)

  • Legends Center and Gymnasium (5130 Soutel Dr.)

The city also has 29 pools and 16 splash pads open on Monday as well.

Additionally, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) is offering free rides to and from any cooling center. Just let your bus driver know if you are heading to or from a cooling center to receive complimentary transportation.

No registration or identification is required—just walk in and cool off.
