(WCAX) &#8211; Workers and community members are expected to picket outside the University of Vermont Medical Center on Friday following the expiration of a contract for more than 3,000 support staff and technical professionals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Since the contract has expired, union workers can legally hold work stoppages and pickets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Labor union AFT Vermont said the unions have been bargaining with the hospital since April to update their contracts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The unions said they want livable wages and improved staffing enforcement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The picketing is expected outside the hospital\u2019s main entrance.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WCAX.
