It\u2019s Ford\u2019s first high-performance soft-top Mustang in over a decade, and it doesn\u2019t hold back. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Under the hood is Ford\u2019s familiar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/news\/793484\/mustang-dark-horse-sc-horsepower\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22793484%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22mustang-dark-horse-sc-horsepower%22%7D\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine<\/a>. It produces 795 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque, the same as the coupe. It pairs with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission powering the rear wheels. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Where the coupe and convertible diverge are their suspension tunes. The convertible comes with MagneRide dampers at all four corners paired with unique springs and sway bars. Arie Groeneveld, the Dark Horse SC\u2019s chief engineer, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u2018Both the Dark Horse SC coupe and convertible have been developed by our Ford Racing engineers. But instead of prioritizing the convertible for setting lap times, we\u2019ve engineered it to be the ultimate top-down grand touring machine.\u2019<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/news\/784455\/2026-ford-mustang-dark-horse-sc-revealed\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22784455%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%222026-ford-mustang-dark-horse-sc-revealed%22%7D\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dark Horse SC<\/a> is built on the GT convertible platform. The soft-top roof has a different aerodynamic profile than the hardtop, so Ford had to compensate for that. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Engineers extended the trailing edge of the hood vent\u2019s fin, closing a portion of the open area. The SC convertible also features unique rear wing stanchions designed for the deck lid\u2014it retains the same profile and attack angle as the coupe&#8217;s, but it lacks gurney flaps. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The SC convertible will go on sale with new color options for the exterior, brake calipers, and interior details. The new Precision Purple exterior color is not as extreme as the Mystic and Mystichrome colors offered on earlier Mustang Cobra variants, but it does color-shift in the light. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Pricing And Availability<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/ford\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"2\" data-params=\"%7B%22alias%22%3A%22ford%22%7D\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ford<\/a> says it will release pricing for the Dark Horse SC convertible later, likely ahead of the order books opening this fall. The automaker will begin deliveries starting next spring. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 Ford Dark Horse SC coupe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motor1.com\/news\/789394\/ford-mustang-dark-horse-sc-price\/\" data-inline-widget=\"internal-links\" data-type-id=\"0\" data-params=\"%7B%22article_edition_id%22%3A%22789394%22%2C%22section%22%3A%221%22%2C%22alias%22%3A%22ford-mustang-dark-horse-sc-price%22%7D\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">starts at $108,085<\/a>, including the destination charge.
