{"id":1001182,"date":"2026-08-14T22:51:30","date_gmt":"2026-08-14T22:51:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1001182\/"},"modified":"2026-08-14T22:51:30","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T22:51:30","slug":"courtney-gartshore-who-killed-baby-with-hairdryer-jailed-for-6-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1001182\/","title":{"rendered":"Courtney Gartshore, who killed baby with hairdryer jailed for 6 years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A mother in Scotland who burned her baby to death with a hairdryer to the point investigators thought she had been in a raging house fire will serve just six years for the unspeakably heinous murder \u2014 and was allowed to party it up on vacation overseas while on bail awaiting trial.<\/p>\n<p>Courtney Gartshore, 28 \u2014 who had been drinking while she was solely in charge of the infant \u2014 subjected little Dahlia-Rose Gartshore to \u201csignificant and sustained heat\u201d on her head and body with the electronic device, fatally injuring her, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/uk\/scotland\/article\/courtney-gartshore-mother-baby-killed-hairdryer-dahlia-rose-jailed-cb6nhmgnc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The Times of London reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency services workers who were called to her home in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire on Sept. 30, 2023 said the child\u2019s injuries were so severe they initially thought she was burned in a fire. <\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.02093719;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"40339747\" width=\"602\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2023-jury-took-hour-return-137403909.jpg\" alt=\"Mugshot of Courtney Gartshore.\" class=\"wp-image-40339747\"  \/>Courtney Gartshore will serve just six years after being found guilty of culpable homicide in the death of her three-month-old daughter, Dahlia-Rose, at the High Court in Aberdeen.  Police Scotland<\/p>\n<p>She was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Gartshore was arrested in November 2023 after an investigation into the child\u2019s death was launched, and convicted of culpable homicide of her daughter following a trial at the High Court in Aberdeen last month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChildren are defenseless and should be protected. The death of any child is particularly harrowing, but a child\u2019s death at the hands of a parent is incredibly disturbing,\u201d Detective Inspector James Callander said after her conviction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone involved in this investigation was deeply affected by the circumstances of Dahlia-Rose\u2019s death, but our job is to uncover the truth and ensure that the person responsible is brought to justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scottish Conservatives lambasted the country\u2019s ruling far-left Scottish National Party (SNP) when it came out that Gartshore had been permitted to take an overseas vacation in Turkey last May, despite being on bail for the monstrous killing.<\/p>\n<p>During the trip, her mother\u2019s boyfriend posted photos that included Gartshore, tagging them \u201cfamily\u201d and \u201cparty time,\u201d the outlet writes.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:0.46191406;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"40339743\" width=\"273\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/dahlia-rose-three-months-old-137403908.jpg\" alt=\"Three-month-old Dahlia-Rose in a black and white striped shirt with ghost decorations and an orange tutu.\" class=\"wp-image-40339743\"  \/>Little Dahlia-Rose Gartshore was burned to death by her deranged mother, who used a hairdryer to commit the heinous murder.
