He is alleged to have driven “at high speed and in a manner demonstrating wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property,” according to the warrant.

The warrant was issued on Wednesday, and Lyle turned himself in to the Broward County Main Jail on Thursday, according to the warrant.

Lyle, a Fort Lauderdale native and St. Thomas Aquinas High alumnus, was preparing to start his third season with the Hurricanes. Lyle had a strong freshman season in 2024, rushing for 400 yards with four touchdowns. He dealt with injuries as a sophomore in 2025, which limited his production on the field.

Lyle could play a bigger role in the Miami backfield this season.

“I see the Jordan Lyle that we saw a year ago in many respects, but with better physical traits,” Hurricanes coach Mario Cristobal said on Tuesday. “… He’s healthy, which I think is a really important part. I don’t think people really knew the extent of how banged up he was last year. And we see a full-speed player.
