One of the big storylines at this point of the summer is on the contract extension front.\u00a0 Several prominent pending unrestricted free agents have yet to sign new deals, leading to speculation about their futures.\u00a0 One of those is Wild defenseman Quinn Hughes<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0 While many expect him to sign a three-year extension that lines up his contract timeline with his brother Jack Hughes<\/a><\/strong> (Luke Hughes<\/a><\/strong> has six years left), it hasn\u2019t happened yet.\u00a0 Michael Russo of The Athletic relays<\/a> word from multiple league sources that the 26-year-old\u2019s intentions are still to eventually sign a new deal with Minnesota.\u00a0 However, the rapid changes to the market this summer \u2013 particularly the higher-end players \u2013 have certainly made the process harder.\u00a0 It stands to reason that a deal will check in higher than Kirill Kaprizov<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s $17MM price tag; it\u2019s just a matter of how much more and when the deal ultimately gets finalized.<\/p>\n
