Christopher Sadowski<\/p>\n<p>To compile the list, the data dealer sifted through thousands of online reviews of tourist attractions, filtering for mentions of \u2018tourist traps\u2019 by real travelers for the world\u2019s top 50 most visited countries.<\/p>\n<p>Third place isn\u2019t a bad shake for the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/05\/07\/lifestyle\/nycs-times-square-tops-survey-of-worlds-worst-tourist-traps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the buzzy, billboard-laden district<\/a> \u2014 which in the past has found itself at the top of these types of lists.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, this time around, aggrieved adventurers appeared to hate  Fisherman\u2019s Wharf in San Francisco and Wall Drug Store in South Dakota more. <\/p>\n<p>The allegedly dastardly duo tied for first place, while Hawaii\u2019s Dole Plantation landed in second.<\/p>\n<p>Chief complaints shared among the \u2018tacky,\u2019 sourpuss-causing spots included high prices, poorly maintained facilities and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/23\/lifestyle\/15-most-overcrowded-tourist-destinations-revealed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unmanaged crowds<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>One recent visitor dubbed the iconic Bay Area spot a \u201cwashed-up wharf,\u201d while a Wall Drug wanderer said it was \u201cjust okay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of visitors to the country\u2019s most famous pineapple farm, meanwhile, didn\u2019t find it very sweet at all. <\/p>\n<p>One reviewer slammed the locale as Exhibit A of tourist traps, saying: \u201cYou are in Hawaii for goodness\u2019 sake. Do something else. Anything else. ANYTHING ELSE.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rounding up the terrible top 5 were Chicago\u2019s Navy Pier and Charleston, S.C. restaurant Hyman\u2019s Seafood.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Fisherman\u2019s Wharf is mostly beloved by tourists for the sea lion viewing areas it boasts.
