Lamborghini (VWAGY<\/a>) brought its most extreme car to the lawn at The Quail by The Peninsula, A Motorsports Gathering \u2014 the Revuelto SV, featuring a 1,050-horsepower naturally aspirated hybrid V12 that the company calls the most powerful and fastest production car in its history.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

That amount of power doesn’t come cheap, as SV (which stands for super veloce, or “super fast” in Italian) starts at $741,172, and rises quickly from there once buyers reach for the carbon fiber and Lamborghini’s “Ad Personam” personalization options that define a car like this.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Limited to 1,963 units, noting the year Lamborghini was founded, it is the latest in a line of special cars that dates back to the 1971 Miura SV, Lamborghini’s first supercar. <\/p>\n

And it arrives at a moment when chairperson and CEO Stephan Winkelmann is being deliberate about how many cars Lamborghini plans to sell. <\/p>\n

“The legacy of the brand is the lineage with the V12,” Winkelmann said to Yahoo Finance from the Lamborghini stand at the Quail. “The Revuelto was the car positioned by the brand, and the Super Veloce takes this even a step further, because it’s more uncompromising, it’s more handling-oriented, and it has a lot of features derived from our racing experience.” <\/p>\n

The Revuelto SV is no appearance package. The SV set a production-car lap record at the Hockenheimring motor racing circuit in Germany, prompting heavy interest. “We had some pre-selling activities around the globe, and the response so far is very, very good,” Winkelmann said. “But it was also expected, I have to say.” <\/p>\n

And that helps the bottom line; at $750K or thereabouts with 1,963 units, that’s at least $1.47 billion in sales. The Revuelto SV started reaching customers \u2014 and padding the bottom line \u2014 in 2027. <\/p>\n

All SV models sit near the top of Lamborghini’s product hierarchy. Lamborghini’s volume comes from its three models: the Urus, Temerario, and Revuelto, but the limited cars carry the mythology and the big pricing premiums.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

“Limited cars like the Super Veloce, or the few-offs and one-offs, are always something our customers look forward to, because they are going to be collectible sooner or later,” Winkelmann said. “All the Super Veloces, since the Miura in ’71, are becoming icons of the era.” <\/p>\n

Interestingly, a manual transmission option wasn’t in the cards despite Lamborghini’s history with the stick shift, even as competitors like Ferrari (RACE<\/a>),\u00a0McLaren<\/a>, and Aston Martin (ARGGY<\/a>) brought it back. <\/p>\n

The Miura SV was a manual, and Winkelmann himself ran the company through the Gallardo and Murci\u00e9lago era, when a manual with a coveted gated shifter was still available.\u00a0Winkelmann didn’t close the door on the manual possibility, but its prospects seem dim. <\/p>\n

“When the stick shift was still in the Gallardo and the Murci\u00e9lago, they had very little demand,” he said. “Now it’s [more] a matter of things to buy, because it’s like the ICE [internal combustion engine] cars \u2014 the last of a kind. But [the manual transmissions are] not planned so far.” <\/p>\n

Manual transmissinos aside, the business rationale of fewer cars at higher prices is where Lamborghini wants to be, most evident in its latest quarter. <\/p>\n

Lamborghini’s first-half 2026 revenue climbed even as unit deliveries slipped, a shift that Winkelmann said was deliberate.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

“We have a pyramid: the base cars, the few-offs, and the one-offs,” he said. “The biggest base investment comes from the base cars, and only then can you create the opportunity to put something on top.”\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Having renewed its three core models, the company hit a volume plateau it will maintain until its next models arrive. The Urus SE Performante, launched at Goodwood, and now the SV, mark “the next era stepping in, and this helps margins,” he said. <\/p>\n

“We have to be very conservative in the approach. Only then can you maintain this scarcity, and this lust of buying the Lamborghini.” <\/p>\n
