Well, here\u2019s a twist we\u2019re pretty sure nobody saw coming:\u00a0Days of Our Lives\u00a0and\u00a0Young & Restless\u00a0are swapping stars. What does that mean? Our sister site Deadline\u00a0reports<\/a> that Conner Floyd is about to join the cast of the Salem-set sudser as a recast of Chad DiMera. This comes as Floyd\u2019s\u00a0Young & Restless\u00a0character, Chance, is about to show up in that show\u2019s big summer storyline, which centers on Cane Ashby\u2026 now played by Billy Flynn, who until recently was playing\u00a0Chad!<\/p>\n

Confusing, right? And it will get even more so thanks to\u00a0Days of Our Lives\u2018 super-advanced shooting schedule. That means that for at least the next few months, Flynn will be appearing on both of the sudsers. In fact, he\u2019s likely to continue doing so until sometime in 2026! Meanwhile, although Floyd is set to start taping the Peacock soap this week, he won\u2019t actually appear on screen until\u2026 you guessed it, sometime next year!<\/p>\n

Certainly the timing is a tad odd. After hardly appearing on screen at all over the past few months, Floyd\u2019s Chance will this week find himself caught up in the intrigue unfolding in France. On the plus side, this should give the actor plenty of time to pick Flynn\u2019s brain about the part he\u2019ll soon be stepping into!<\/p>\n

Want one more confusing little factoid? The characters currently being played by the men on\u00a0Young & Restless\u00a0were once father and son. Yes, there was a time when Cane (then played by Daniel Goddard, who is now General Hospital\u2019s Dalton!) pretended to be Phillip Chancellor \u2014 Chance\u2019s dad \u2014 so that the\u00a0real\u00a0Philip could continue to play dead.<\/p>\n

Ain\u2019t soap life grand?<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, proving himself a class act, Flynn posted an Instagram story congratulating Floyd. \u201cChad is [in] good hands,\u201d he wrote. \u201cYou\u2019re gonna crush it, man!\u201d<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve reached out to\u00a0Young & Restless\u00a0to find out how the show will handle Floyd\u2019s exit, but as of publication time had not yet received a response. While the show could recast, the character could also easily be written off (as evidenced by Chance\u2019s lack of storyline or airtime of late). Might the mystery currently unfolding in Cane\u2019s maze wind up having a body count?<\/p>\n
