1.\u00a0City to build 3,000 homes at former Flushing Airport site<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n The city will build approximately 3,000 homes and 60 acres of public green space at the site of the long-defunct Flushing Airport in College Point, Queens, officials said today. \u00a0<\/p>\n The 80-acre site, which is\u00a0owned by the city, has been vacant since the once-bustling airport shuttered in 1984, Mayor Eric Adams said at a news conference.<\/p>\n 2.\u00a0City extends public pool hours amid Heat Advisory<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n The city has extended hours at some public pools in the five boroughs due to the heat. A Heat Advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday, with feels-like temperatures expected to reach\u00a0near 100 degrees.<\/p>\n Hours at the city\u2019s outdoor Olympic- and intermediate-sized pools have been extended to 8 p.m. today through Wednesday in light of the advisory, the Parks Department said on its website.<\/p>\n 3.\u00a0Bronx River Alliance sues over federal funding cuts, raises concerns about highway project<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n The Bronx River Alliance is suing the Trump administration over more than $1.5 million in cuts to its grant funding.<\/p>\n The nonprofit says that money is critical to continuing cleanup and maintenance of the Bronx River, as well as the connected Greenway developed over the years. A court date is tentatively scheduled for October.<\/p>\n 4.\u00a0Trump seeks quick Murdoch deposition in Wall Street Journal lawsuit over Epstein story<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n President Donald Trump is asking a federal court in Florida to force Rupert Murdoch to give a deposition for the president’s lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal within 15 days, citing the media mogul’s age and physical condition.<\/p>\n Trump sued the Journal, owned by Murdoch, is U.S. District Court in southern Florida on July 18 for its story reporting on the Republican president’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein, the financier and alleged child sex trafficker who died in a New York jail in 2019 before trial.<\/p>\n 5.\u00a0Judge blocks Trump administration’s efforts to defund Planned Parenthood<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n A federal judge today ruled Planned Parenthood clinics nationwide must continue to be reimbursed for Medicaid funding as the nation’s largest abortion provider fights President Donald Trump’s administration over efforts to defund the organization in his signature tax legislation.<\/p>\n The new order replaces a previous edict handed down by U.S. District Judge Indira Talwani in Boston last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n
