SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – It\u2019s the middle of the offseason for college basketball teams, but the Notre Dame men are on campus getting ready for next season.<\/p>\n
The media was invited to come watch practice on Monday, as this Irish team has several new faces on its roster.<\/p>\n
Missing from Monday\u2019s practice was Markus Burton, who was out with the flu. He joined freshman Jalen Haralson, sophomore Sir Mohammed, junior Braeden Shrewsberry and freshman Tommy Ahneman who were out today with ailments\/injuries.<\/p>\n
In their place, the Irish still had about seven scholarship players out on the floor, and some of the new faces were standing out as ND added four freshmen and one transfer this offseason.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know it was a pretty fluid transition with all the dudes. They\u2019re all just great dudes. Great staff. It\u2019s a big family vibe here,\u201d says Notre Dame senior forward Carson Towt. \u201cAll my people back home ask me how it is out here and how\u2019s it going. I\u2019m like \u2018Dude, it\u2019s just a big family.\u2019 It\u2019s a big family who works hard and we have fun doing it. We\u2019ve got a vision and we\u2019re going to go execute it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI think Coach Shrews did a good job recruiting some good guys that come in and they know what they\u2019re doing,\u201d adds Notre Dame senior forward Kebba Njie. \u201cThey\u2019re very quick learners, so the way we\u2019re playing right now it\u2019s easy for them to adapt and get adjusted to what we\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Notre Dame men\u2019s basketball team begins regular season play in early November.<\/p>\n
