NEW YORK<\/strong> – NYPD<\/a> officers shot a man<\/a> they said was armed with a butcher’s knife inside an apartment building on the Lower East Side Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n NYPD shooting\u00a0 <\/p>\n What we know:<\/p>\n The shooting happened around 4 p.m. at a building near the intersection of Ludlow and Rivington Streets.<\/p>\n Officers were called out to the building for reports of an assault. When they got there, they said they found a blood trail on the stairs. Officers followed the blood trail, and found a man who they said was armed with a butcher’s knife.<\/p>\n According to the department, officers ordered the man to show his hands multiple times, and he refused. That’s when officers shot him.<\/p>\n Dig deeper:<\/p>\n After the shooting, officers said they found a person upstairs in the apartment building who had a gash on their head. Paramedics took that person to the hospital, and officials say they’re expected to survive.<\/p>\n What we don’t know:<\/p>\n The condition of the man officers shot was not clear.
