A booming Arlington aerospace parts company is planning a massive $45 million expansion project this fall.<\/p>\n
Circuit Systems Co. Inc., which started in the owner\u2019s garage and has operated in Arlington for more than 40 years, plans to begin construction in November to significantly expand its manufacturing warehouse at 5301 W. Pioneer Parkway. The contract manufacturer makes aerospace bonding jumping cables, bus bars and grounding straps.<\/p>\n
The family-owned company, which is one of three U.S. manufacturers that makes parts for Boeing Co., will add 20,980 square feet to their existing 11,880-square-foot facility, according to a state filing<\/a>. The expansion also includes new offices, a conference room, storage and restroom facilities.<\/p>\n Circuit Systems products \u2014 used in commercial and military aircraft \u2014 include parts of the F-22 and F-35 aircraft from Fort Worth-based Lockheed Martin Aeronautics as well as those used in the International Space Station. Those parts allow for a safe pathway for electrical currents on aircraft so they aren\u2019t damaged by lightning strikes, according to the company.<\/p>\n The company was launched in 1983 by founder and president Grady King. The firm does work for Bell Textron, Airbus, General Electric Co. and other major aerospace equipment manufacturers. Circuit Systems uses international distributors for major airlines parts maintenance.<\/p>\n The company headquarters, once a liquor store, was repurposed when King bought the property in 2015.<\/p>\n Arlington City Council approved<\/a> the expansion project on Oct. 14, 2025, on the company\u2019s 7.1-acre site.<\/p>\n At the meeting, council member Andrew Piel said the building expansion was impressive.<\/p>\n \u201cI do want to say this is the best adaptive use of a liquor store ever in the history of mankind,\u201d Piel said.<\/p>\n In anticipation of the expansion, the original plans for the site included the remodel and purchase of adjoining property, King said in the October city council meeting.<\/p>\n \u201cIn the years since, we have added more equipment as well as purchasing a complete and operating machine shop that is presently in one of the old, smaller locations we moved from,\u201d King said.<\/p>\n The hope then was to have the expansion operational by the first quarter of 2027.<\/p>\n Construction is now expected to be completed by December 2027, according to the filing.<\/p>\n Eric E.
