A homeless Marine vet in Phoenix nearly gave up his 3 dogs. A Maricopa County shelter worker made one call and changed everything for this family.(Arizona’s Family)<\/p>\n
Hoguin made calls and connected Dennis with the City of Phoenix\u2019s homeless liaison and a local nonprofit called Community Bridges<\/a>. By that same day, Dennis had an apartment, and his dogs had a home.<\/p>\n \u201cThey did it that morning, that night I was in an apartment,\u201d Dennis said. \u201cAll I had to do was bring the paper saying that they were my dogs.\u201d<\/p>\n Hoguin said helping Dennis was one of the most rewarding moments of her job.<\/p>\n \u201cHe was so excited,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was just great.\u201d<\/p>\n Hoguin says many homeless people feel they have to give up their pets because they can\u2019t find pet-friendly housing or afford to care for them. <\/p>\n Her goal is to find a way to keep families, pets included, together.<\/p>\n Know of someone or an organization doing something good in your community?\u00a0Nominate them for our segment here!<\/a><\/p>\n See a spelling or grammatical error in our story?
