in the area and added that he demanded that all the responsibility for the area be transferred from the IDF to the Israel Police.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">&#8220;The authority for administrative detentions and administrative restrictions should be transferred from the Minister of Defense and the IDF to the Minister of National Security and the Israel Police,&#8221; he also said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">&#8220;We will not allow violence or unauthorized parties to take the law into their own hands,&#8221; Katz said.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/defense-news\/article-905517\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Katz had announced<\/a> that he had instructed the IDF to prepare a plan to transfer all civilian enforcement authority for Israeli communities and residents in the West Bank to the Israel Police, as part of a broader effort to redefine the military&#8217;s role in the territory.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The move came amid criticism levied at the military of its failure to control settler extremists, who in recent days have targeted Palestinian homes in the village of Kusra, dismantling fences, blocking roads, and besieging the area.<\/p>\n<p>According to Katz, the proposed plan would shift responsibility for civilian law enforcement and public order involving the Israeli population in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/defense-news\/article-905620\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">West Bank<\/a> from the IDF to police.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The IDF&#8217;s role is to fight Palestinian terrorism and focus on defending the borders and the communities against threats,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/israel-katz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Katz<\/a> said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">&#8220;All responsibility for enforcing civilian matters and maintaining law and order will be transferred to the police,&#8221;
