Followed by a courtyard after-party with a special guest DJ, <strong>Cara Stricker.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Flux Screening Series brings the creative community together for a night of outstanding short films and music videos, featuring wildly inventive filmmaker presentations and performances.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Our summer program features both music videos that broke the internet (but are now enjoyed on the Hammer&#8217;s giant cinema screen) as well as unexpected short film and video gems that will likely become your new favorites.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Director<strong> Cat Solen<\/strong> has been focused on television projects since we screened her last music video in 2019 (the incredible Tierra Whack video Unemployed). We&#8217;re happy that<strong> Olivia Rodrigo<\/strong> cajoled her back to music videos, collaborating with her creative director <strong>Jaime Gerin<\/strong> on a beautifully handcrafted video for The Cure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;re excited to screen <strong>Aidan Weaver<\/strong>&#8216;s atmospheric mystery A Crime Across Four Landscapes, which premiered at this year&#8217;s Tribeca Festival. Hot off his fantastic short film Swim Lessons, filmmaker Matt Wisner will join us to share his music video debut Knifefish for LA-based artist Oxis.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Director-artist-curator-writer<strong> Aaron Rose<\/strong> returns to Flux to premiere The Ego Has Landed for the artist TRZTN, which Aaron describes as &#8220;a metaphor for identity crisis in the modern world.&#8221; New York-based filmmaker and photographer <strong>Nicholas Shaya<\/strong> will present Rotelle, the story of a bicycle in the big city.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There is an art to capturing dance on film. We were impressed by filmmaker\u00a0<strong>Rachel McDonald<\/strong>&#8216;s intricate film\u00a0Ternura\u00a0which was shot in Mexico City with six dancers in a single hour. In 2023, we screened Mette&#8217;s\u00a0Mama&#8217;s Eyes\u00a0(directed by Camille Summers-Valli and one of that year&#8217;s best).
