Netflix has set October 15 for the Season 4 premiere of The Diplomat. The streamer also released the first trailer and several first-look photos for the upcoming season, where clearly marital tension abounds.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not trying to get out of the marriage, I\u2019m trying to get back in \u2026\u201d, says Keri Russell\u2019s Kate Wyler at the beginning of the teaser. \u201cWe do high highs and really low lows. The fights are gonna be spicy.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou can\u2019t keep doing this to me,\u201d says a distraught Hal (Rufus Sewell).<\/p>\n
The new season picks up after the cliffhanger ending in the Season 3 finale with Kate finding discovering her husband, Vice President Hal Wyler, and President Grace Penn secretly stole a Russian nuclear weapon. Kate furiously tells Hal when the Brits and Russia find out the U.S. stole the weapon, both nations will consider it an act of war. The last scene cuts to black just as Hal calls President Penn to warn her, \u201cShe knows.\u201d<\/p>\n
Per the official logline: In Season 4, two marriages threaten to eat each other alive. One catastrophic moment shatters the fragile peace Kate Wyler brokered between the US and UK, as well as the crumbling marriage she\u2019s trying to save. While she fights to stem the bleeding, President Grace Penn and VP Hal Wyler\u2019s conspiracy to steal Russia\u2019s most powerful weapon hurtles the United States toward war. Kate and Todd, at best an uneasy pair, unite to stop the Grace-Hal alliance from upending the balance of power abroad and at home.<\/p>\n
