{"id":1007269,"date":"2026-08-17T21:25:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-17T21:25:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1007269\/"},"modified":"2026-08-17T21:25:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-17T21:25:15","slug":"body-recovered-from-corpus-christi-bay-what-we-know-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1007269\/","title":{"rendered":"Body recovered from Corpus Christi Bay: What we know now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Officials in South Texas have released the name of a man whose body was recovered from the water in downtown <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/news\/south-texas\/article\/corpus-christi-international-airport-upgrade-22385019.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Corpus Christi<\/a> late last week.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/news\/south-texas\/article\/corpus-christi-utility-worker-dies-22094552.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Nueces County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office<\/a> has identified the man as 55-year-old Tyrone Smith, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kiiitv.com\/article\/news\/local\/ccpd-man-dies-after-being-found-floating-in-bay-at-waters-edge-park\/503-d010d310-39d4-4b4d-b1c7-e4e7c2b295e7\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">according to KIII 3NEWS<\/a>. Smith\u2019s body was recovered from the waters of Corpus Christi Bay at the 600 block of South Shoreline Boulevard on Thursday, August 13, the Corpus Christi Police Department told MySA on Monday, August 17. Police received a call for help at approximately 4:04 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe officers were dispatched to a drowning call and the male was pulled from the water. First aid was done, and then he was transported to a local hospital,\u201d Public Information Officer Madeline Commons said.<\/p>\n<p>Commons added that police did not believe foul play had been involved. Smith\u2019s body was recovered after he was spotted floating in the water near Water\u2019s Edge Park in downtown Corpus Christi. Smith was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Smith\u2019s death is not the first fatal incident in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/entertainment\/article\/south-texas-tv-news-shakeups-2026-22326866.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Coastal Bend&#8217;s<\/a> waters this year.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/news\/south-texas\/article\/port-aransas-drowning-22358779.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">5-year-old boy drowned<\/a> after his family lost sight of him while they were getting ready to leave after spending the day on the beach in Port\u00a0Aransas. The boy, identified as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/news\/local\/article\/port-aransas-benny-arredondo-gofundme-22361991.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Benny Arredondo<\/a>, drowned after becoming separated from his family near Beach Marker 46 on Wednesday, July 22.<\/p>\n<p>And in March, the bodies of a 28-year-old man and his 4-year-old were pulled from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/news\/south-texas\/article\/father-son-drown-port-lavaca-22087368.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Hog Bayou near Port\u00a0Lavaca<\/a>. Authorities were alerted to the missing pair after finding two tender-aged children alone at the Hog Bayou boat ramp. The children told officials that their brother had fallen into the water the night before.
