{"id":1007311,"date":"2026-08-17T21:48:16","date_gmt":"2026-08-17T21:48:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1007311\/"},"modified":"2026-08-17T21:48:16","modified_gmt":"2026-08-17T21:48:16","slug":"ad-interest-heats-up-around-prime-videos-wnba-nwsl-coverage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1007311\/","title":{"rendered":"Ad interest heats up around Prime Video\u2019s WNBA, NWSL coverage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">Amazon Prime Video has been seeing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/05\/04\/prime-videos-year-round-sports-strategy-paying-off-with-brands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/05\/04\/prime-videos-year-round-sports-strategy-paying-off-with-brands\/\">increased ad interest<\/a> around its NWSL and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/03\/20\/espn-nbc-amazon-prime-video-versant-look-to-build-on-advertising-revenue-as-new-wnba-rights-deals-kick-in\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/03\/20\/espn-nbc-amazon-prime-video-versant-look-to-build-on-advertising-revenue-as-new-wnba-rights-deals-kick-in\/\">WNBA coverage<\/a>, to a point where it\u2019s having to get creative to meet that demand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">\u201cWe cannot sell it fast enough,\u201d said Amy McDevitt, the head of sports brand partnerships at Amazon Ads. \u201cPeople are lining up to buy women\u2019s sports and we\u2019re virtually sold out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">In addition to its traditional WNBA broadcasts, Prime Video has been getting brands involved through its Twitch Creator Casts, which feature various influencers streaming WNBA games through their own Twitch platforms. The ad experience for viewers on the Twitch stream is different than the main Prime feed, with the creators themselves promoting brands in their own voice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">\u201cIt\u2019s just a unique way to bring brands in and bring them closer and do something different for the fan,\u201d McDevitt said. \u201cAnd what we love about it for our advertisers too is it\u2019s generally an incremental audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">Prime is in the third year of its NWSL and in the first year of its latest WNBA pact. One reason for the increased demand around the WNBA this season? It\u2019s the third year the league has had games on Prime, but the first that Prime is actually producing the contests. Prime took the NBA\u2019s feed in the first two seasons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \"><b>Brand overlap<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">McDevitt said Prime has been \u201cinnovating and treating the women\u2019s games just like we do [with] all of our men\u2019s properties.\u201d It\u2019s allowed for more data insights and other tech enhancements around the product, she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">\u201cSome of the partnerships we\u2019ve had with AWS across NFL and NBA are also now coming to life with WNBA and going deeper on statistical analysis of women\u2019s basketball,\u201d McDevitt said. According to Prime, more than 80% of NBA on Prime advertisers are also WNBA on Prime advertisers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">Specifically around the WNBA, Prime\u2019s advertisers include Volkswagen (pregame presenting sponsor), State Farm (halftime) and Ford (night-time recap). Another of those is AT&amp;T (game presenting partner), which has been advertising around the WNBA on Prime since the first year of their partnership in 2024. Its NWSL agreement includes matches each Friday night throughout the season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">Prime Video is having its WNBA games measured by Nielsen for the first time this year, and like other properties in the Amazon portfolio, the platform is delivering an audience younger than linear TV \u2014 nearly six years younger (57.0 vs. 62.8). Through the end of July, WNBA games on Prime were averaging 439,000 viewers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">\u201cMulti-sport advertising investment really ups the ante, and the campaigns perform and deliver better,\u201d McDevitt said. \u201cThe more you add to your buy, you can re-market to those audiences and unique audiences in different ways.
