{"id":1008175,"date":"2026-08-18T07:31:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-18T07:31:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1008175\/"},"modified":"2026-08-18T07:31:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-18T07:31:14","slug":"strikes-reported-at-syrian-military-airfield-attackers-still-unknown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1008175\/","title":{"rendered":"Strikes reported at Syrian military airfield, attackers still unknown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Four airstrikes were carried out overnight against the Abu al-Duhur military airfield in Idlib province in northwestern <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/article-905781\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Syria<\/a>, Arab media reported on Tuesday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The identity of the aircraft that carried out the strikes remains unknown, and Damascus has not yet issued an official statement on the incident. The strikes took place about 70 kilometers from the Turkish border.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">A correspondent for the Qatari Al Jazeera network reported that the four strikes targeted the runway of the military base, located in the eastern Idlib countryside.<\/p>\n<p>The network&#8217;s correspondent in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/article-904831\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Damascus<\/a> said that information about the incident remained scarce and that Syrian authorities had not issued an official response. Other Arab media outlets also reported that the strikes were carried out by &#8220;unidentified fighter jets.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hezbollah-affiliated Al Mayadeen network suggested that Israel was behind the attack, though the IDF has not addressed any recent strikes in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/article-905715\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Syria<\/a>, and other reports in the region did not determine that the Israeli Air Force had carried out the strikes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Abu al-Duhur airfield is located east of the city of Idlib and dozens of kilometers from the Turkish border. The military base changed hands several times during the Syrian civil war. In 2015, rebel forces captured it following a prolonged siege, and in early 2018 it returned to the control of forces loyal to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/bashar-assad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Bashar al-Assad<\/a>&#8216;s regime.
