Along the way, I’ve started looking at many things differently—not only recovery, but life, purpose, serving Hashem, and what a person is still capable of accomplishing when circumstances suddenly change.

We are also living in an incredible time. Technology is advancing faster than most of us ever imagined. AI, voice technology, accessibility tools, and the digital world are creating possibilities that simply did not exist a few years ago.

For someone recovering from a stroke, living with a brain injury, neurological challenge, or another disability, these tools can mean much more than convenience.

They can mean independence. Dignity. Productivity. Connection. And purpose. A physical limitation does not erase a lifetime of knowledge. It does not erase experience. It does not erase creativity, relationships, ambition, faith, or the desire to contribute.

Maybe we need to change the question. Instead of only asking: “What can this person no longer do?”

We should also be asking: “With the right tools, support, and technology, what can this person STILL accomplish?”

That question has become very personal to me. I’m not announcing an organization or launching a program. I’m beginning a conversation.

Over the coming weeks, I hope to share some of what I’ve learned from experiencing a stroke from the other side—not as an observer, but as the person going through it.

Some lessons are about recovery. Some are about dignity and independence. Some are about relationships and business. Some are about technology and the possibilities ahead.

And some of the deepest lessons are about faith and serving Hashem when things we once took for granted suddenly become difficult.
One of those lessons has been humility.
I have always valued being independent and being able to take care of things myself. After my stroke, there have been moments when my mind knows exactly what I want to do, but physically I need another person’s hand.

Learning to accept that physical help has not always been easy.

But I am beginning to understand that accepting a helping hand does not mean surrendering your independence. Sometimes it means recognizing where you are today while continuing to work toward where you want to be tomorrow.

There is humility in accepting help—and determination in working toward the day when you may no longer need it. I certainly don’t have all the answers. I’m still learning.

But perhaps sharing what I learn can help someone else—and perhaps I can learn from others walking their own difficult roads.
Sometimes life changes the road.

That doesn’t mean the journey is over.
Despite all odds, we move forward—with dignity, purpose, faith, humility, and determination. And with the tools available to us today, the possibilities may truly be limitless.

Crown Heights realtor Mendy Lipsker suffered a stroke earlier this year and writes about accepting help and finding…

[11
38535,210,403931,67,132,68
post-1008889","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-health","tag-crown-heights","tag-health","tag-mendy-lipsker","tag-united-states","tag-unitedstates","tag-us
["GET
